“You just have to accept it.”

How do you feel when you read that?

Do you feel like your power of choice has been taken away?
Like what you feel doesn’t matter?

I think this is how most people hear the word acceptance.

Today I want to share a different perspective.

Acceptance is a courageous and empowering choice to stop resisting what cannot be controlled.

Now read that out loud.
Take a deep breath.
Let it soak in.

Sometimes acceptance is the best choice we can make because it opens the door to emotional regulation and allows us to walk in the peace that God has already given us.

It frees us from the exhausting fight against reality and helps us focus on what we can change.

Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us:

“Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart
And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him,
And He will make your paths straight and smooth
[removing obstacles that block your way].”
(Amplified)

This can be difficult because acceptance requires us to face a humbling truth:
there are things in life we simply cannot control.

And if you have the gift of leadership and have not fully surrendered that leadership to the Holy Spirit (this is a bar for my people leaders 💙), acceptance can feel especially challenging.

Because we are human, and survival is wired into us, acceptance is often a process.

It is the process of letting go of how we think life should be and embracing what it actually is in the present moment.

Psalm 46:10 reminds us:

“Be still, be calm, see, and understand I am the True God.
I am honored among all the nations.
I am honored over all the earth.”
(The Voice)

Acceptance allows us to release control and experience life in the way God intended—
a life of trust in Him.

The crystal cannot control the environment around it.

We often find ourselves in circumstances we did not choose—situations shaped by pressures we cannot control. But when we stop resisting what we cannot change, something remarkable can begin to happen within us.

Morganite is often formed with yellow or orange tones because of iron within the stone. Through heat treatment, those tones are released, allowing the stone’s soft pink color to emerge more clearly.

The transformation does not destroy the stone.

It reveals its true beauty.

Acceptance works in much the same way.

When we stop resisting the realities of life and allow God to work through our circumstances, what is refined in us can become something far more beautiful than what we imagined.

Acceptance is not weakness.

It is the courage to allow God to shape us through the pressures of life.

Are you facing the choice of acceptance in an area of your life?

Try asking yourself this simple question:

If I remove what I cannot control, what remains that I can surrender to God?

Take that to Him in prayer.

Ask Him to help you release the things outside of your control and to guide you toward the actions that are within your responsibility.

Sometimes victory doesn’t come from forcing circumstances to change.

Sometimes victory comes from trusting God enough to release control.

Affirmation

Today I release what I cannot control, trust God with what I cannot see, and walk in the wisdom to know the difference.

When I think about how much time I have wasted in my life complaining and dwelling in discontentment, it truly makes me sad.

At times, I’ve felt like I can sense the Holy Spirit within me grieving and gently saying, “You have too much to be grateful for to remain in this state. I have more for you. I want so much more for you.”

This realization was difficult for me, but the gratitude I have for it is almost impossible to put into words.

When I began to put God’s Word over the lies of the enemy (thanks TTC 💛), my heart began to open and I could finally see the truth.

And I want the same for anyone who truly feels they have nothing to be thankful for.

Now that may not be any of you, but we are the light and we are called to share it in a dark world. And there are few places darker than the place where someone feels they have nothing to be thankful for.

So I pray that you can share this message with someone who needs to hear it in a way that their heart can receive it.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says:

“In every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.”

Gratitude begins with this truth.

When we intentionally give thanks for what God has already provided—which Scripture reminds us is His will—our hearts begin to shift. Gratitude redirects our attention away from what we lack and toward the evidence of God’s faithfulness in our lives.

Psalm 100:4–5 in The Message reads:

“Enter with the password: ‘Thank you!’
Make yourselves at home, talking praise.
Thank Him. Worship Him.

For God is sheer beauty,
all-generous in love,
loyal always and ever.”

Just reading this version of such a familiar scripture makes me smile.

This doesn’t mean our circumstances suddenly become perfect. But gratitude reminds us that even in seasons of uncertainty, we are not without blessing.

Gratitude is not pretending everything is good.

It is recognizing that God is still good.

And when our perspective begins to change, contentment becomes much easier to hold in our hearts.

Gratitude is often the first step toward the kind of contentment Paul describes.

Today, try pausing when something good comes to mind. Place your hand over your heart or take a slow breath and simply thank God for it.

You might also begin attaching gratitude to the ordinary rhythms of your day—while making coffee, brushing your teeth, or standing in the shower.

Let those everyday moments become quiet reminders to thank God for something in your life.

And if you know someone who feels like they have nothing to be thankful for, consider sharing this practice with them. Sometimes the smallest act of gratitude can begin to bring light into a dark place.

Sometimes the journey to contentment begins with a single quiet “thank you.”

Today I choose to see the good God is working in myself and others, and I thank Him for it.

Do you ever wish you could live in the place of contentment that Paul describes in Philippians?

Contentment is one of the most beautiful spiritual disciplines — and one of the hardest to learn.

I know you may be thinking the same thing I often do: I’m not sure I want the journey it took for him to get there.

Honestly, I agree.

But I do believe we can learn something powerful from Paul’s revelation about contentment.

In Philippians 4:11-13, Paul describes a state of peace that is not dependent on circumstances — whether in abundance or in need.

“Not that I speak from any personal need, for I have learned to be content and self-sufficient through Christ, satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or uneasy regardless of my circumstances.”
(Philippians 4:11, Amplified)

Contentment does not mean we stop growing or stop hoping for more.

There is nothing wrong with wanting more.

Contentment is not settling.

It is an acknowledgment of God’s sovereignty and a confidence that He is at work in every season of our lives.

This week we will explore contentment through the lenses of gratitude, acceptance, mindfulness, self-compassion, and things — examining how our hearts relate to both what we have and what we desire.

Morganite, our gemstone for the week, is known for its soft and calming presence. Often associated with compassion, emotional healing, and peace, it reminds us that strength does not always appear as force. Sometimes it shows up as gentleness, patience, and quiet trust.

Let’s lean into contentment together this week.

Do you ever feel like Jesus set high standards for us?

I do.

I mean, He was literally the perfect example of how to live out the Gospel. He set the bar high, but He never intended for us to bring about the Kingdom on earth without the Holy Spirit.

John 16:7 says:

“But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you].”
(John 16:7, Amplified)

We are not in this alone. And if we were, we could never live up to our full God-given potential.

One of the roles of the Holy Spirit is to teach us and help us remember on Jesus’s behalf.

Jesus tells us this in John 14:26.

The Holy Spirit is a Person who lives in us, given as a gift to those who believe.

There are many gifts and benefits associated with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. But in his book Host the Holy Ghost, Vladimir Savchuk says that His primary gift to us is a relationship.

How is your relationship with the Holy Spirit?

If you really want an honest answer to that question, look transparently at your life.

How do you spend your time and money?

What brings you joy?

How do you treat people?

What do you dwell on when you are alone?

If you are not aligned in these or other areas of your life, don’t waste your time trying to work on your character first.

Work on your relationship with the Holy Spirit.

I know this sounds elementary, but the way we get to know a person is by communicating with them.

The Holy Spirit is no different.

We cannot get to know Him if we do not spend time talking with Him.

Before trying to become stronger, wiser, or better on your own, spend time with the One who was sent to help you.

For centuries, sapphires have been associated with wisdom and divine guidance. In ancient times, kings and spiritual leaders wore sapphires because the stone was believed to help them seek truth and make wise decisions.

In much the same way, God did not leave us to navigate life alone. Through the Holy Spirit, we are given guidance, wisdom, and direction as we walk with Him.

When we listen and respond to His leading, our lives begin to reflect the clarity and wisdom that come from God Himself.

Usually it came from a place of desperation because I simply didn’t know what else to do.

Writing this devotional has truly helped me see how dangerous and debilitating it can be to live beneath your privilege and outside of God’s alignment. It’s so easy to do when you’re hurting so badly that it becomes difficult to investigate the Word and search for truth.

I believe God healed me from some things so I could share this message.

Flowing is a continuous stream of something. It’s the action of moving along.

For a long time, I mistakenly believed that this equated to a passive acceptance of my circumstances instead of an active, internal movement stemming from a connection with God.

The connection piece was what I was missing.

When we consult Him, God directs our flow. After all, He already knows where we are going.

Psalm 139:16 reminds us that God saw us before we were born and scheduled each day of our lives before we ever took our first breath.

Isaiah 46 also reminds us that God alone declares the end from the beginning and accomplishes everything He sets out to do.

Flowing in life is non-negotiable. As believers, we flow successfully in life when we lean into God through prayer, faith, and obedience.

This gives “going with the flow” a whole new meaning.

Don’t fight against the current.

Lean into it.
Learn the lesson.
Surrender.

And come to know God in a new, different, and miraculous way.

Large, high-quality natural sapphires are incredibly rare. The exact conditions required for their formation occur only under very specific circumstances deep within the Earth, which is why these stones are considered so precious.

In much the same way, a life lived in surrender and alignment with God is rare. When we choose to move with Him instead of resisting His direction, something beautiful begins to take shape within us.

We often think of progress as speed — moving quickly, solving problems immediately, and seeing results right away. But God’s pace rarely looks like ours.

His pace is steady.
Consistent.
Intentional.

Pace is not about rushing forward or standing still. It is about moving in step with God, trusting that His timing is never late and never wasted.

When we try to force our own pace, frustration usually follows. We grow tired, discouraged, or impatient because we cannot see what God is doing behind the scenes.

But Scripture reminds us that faithfulness is not measured by speed.

Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

God’s timing often feels slower than we expect, but His perspective is very different from ours.

2 Peter 3:8–9

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you.

Waiting on God is not wasted time.

It is where strength is renewed.

But those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.

Alignment invites us to trust God’s rhythm.

Some seasons are for running.
Some seasons are for walking.

But every season has purpose when we move at the pace God has set.

Have you had your capacity tested lately?

I could probably star in an ad campaign for capacity tests, and God could use my image on a billboard. At least that’s what I used to think. Until God gently reminded me that while my capacity test was unique to me, the testing of capacity itself is not unique.

He also showed me that my concept of capacity had been twisted by unchecked emotions.

your strength is limited.

Here’s what God says about our capacity when we are in alignment with Him.

I don’t usually share this many scriptures, but my hope is that we (me and you) can come back to this post the next time we feel like our capacity is low and put the Word of truth over the lie from the enemy.

Don’t be mistaken; in and of ourselves we know we have little to offer, but any competence or value we have comes from God. Now God has equipped us to be capable servants of the new covenant, not by authority of the written law which only brings death, but by the Spirit who brings life.

The truth is that we don’t have enough capacity to hold all the amazingly wonderful things God has for us.

So be encouraged.

Holding what hurts us and being weighed down to the point where we don’t have the energy to love others is not of God. That doesn’t mean we won’t have rough times, but we can’t stay there.

God is too good, and He loves us too much.

When we are in alignment, the truth about our capacity becomes undeniable and livable. ❤️

Our spiritual capacity works in a similar way.

Pressure can sometimes feel overwhelming, but it can also reveal the strength God is building within us as we stay aligned with Him.

As I remain aligned with God, He strengthens my capacity to endure and to grow.

Alignment has been especially difficult for me in relation to God’s timing. But I have learned that there is no better pursuit than seeking it because it is the place where walking in peace is effortless and the pace of things is perfect. It’s the ultimate happy place.

For me, it all starts here.

“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.”

Over time I have come to understand this verse a little differently.

I let Him tell me what my heart’s desires should be. He knows me and never leads me wrong.

This week we will explore alignment through five facets: capacity, pace, flow, help, and company.

Sapphire is the perfect stone to pair with alignment.

Sapphire has historically symbolized truth, wisdom, and heavenly alignment. It’s associated with clarity of purpose and moving in the order God designed.

Alignment is not simply about knowing what is right.

It is about having the strength and support to walk it out.

So let’s lean into alignment and position ourselves for God’s best.

As I step into a new season this week, thank you for the grace as the posting rhythm adjusts slightly.

It begins with connection.

Many of us assume influence comes from position, expertise, or the ability to persuade others to see things our way. But influence often grows from something much simpler: the experience people have when they interact with us.

People rarely evaluate our motives through our intentions.

They evaluate them through their experience.

Are we patient?
Are we listening?
Are we respectful?
Do we genuinely care about their well-being?

Influence grows quietly through those moments.

For believers, Scripture gives us a clear filter for how those moments should look.

“Do not let unwholesome words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear.”

Ephesians 4:29 (Amplified Bible)

Our words shape how people experience us.

But influence is not only about what we say. It is also about what we do.

“Be kind and helpful to one another, tender-hearted [compassionate, understanding], forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.”

Ephesians 4:32 (Amplified Bible)

Kindness.
Compassion.
Forgiveness.

These are not simply spiritual ideals — they are the foundation of trust.

And trust is the soil where influence grows.

Sometimes the smallest actions strengthen that trust more than we realize:

A sincere smile.
Listening without interrupting.
Asking thoughtful questions instead of rushing to respond.
Admitting when we are wrong.

These actions may seem small, but they communicate something powerful:

You matter.

Connection begins there.

Just as the most valuable diamonds reveal their worth through rare and consistent qualities, influence grows when our character remains steady across every interaction.

What experience do they have when they interact with you?

Do your words build others up?

Do your actions reflect kindness and compassion?

Where might God be inviting you to strengthen connection with the people around you?

Influence often begins in the smallest moments.

Focus shapes the direction of our lives, but influence reveals what that direction produces.

A few situations come to mind where “crashing and burning” would not be an unfair description.

But thanks be to God, I survived those poorly timed landings and learned something important in the process: navigating life’s runways requires more than a strong start.

It requires a wise landing.

One of the most universal definitions of landing is simple:

the act of arriving on a surface after flight or descent.

But in aviation, landing is much more than arrival.

It is commitment.

Before a pilot ever reaches the runway, a flight plan has already been established. The destination is chosen, the course is mapped, and the pilot commits to bringing the aircraft safely to the ground.

Once the runway is confirmed, circling is no longer the goal.

The pilot commits to the landing.

In many areas of life, we are very good at takeoff.

We launch ideas.
We begin projects.
We set intentions.
We pursue possibilities.

But finishing — committing — bringing something safely to completion requires a different kind of discipline.

Sometimes hesitation comes from fear.

Sometimes it comes from uncertainty.

And sometimes we keep circling simply because we have not yet chosen the runway.

But sometimes circling is not caused by uncertainty.

Sometimes we already know the right runway.

We know the conversation that needs to happen.
We know the boundary that needs to be set.
We know the responsibility that needs to be carried out.

Yet obedience can feel difficult when the right action requires courage.

Holding someone accountable.
Addressing what has been avoided.
Following through on what we know is right.

These moments require more than good intentions.

They require obedience.

“If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.”

James 4:17 (NIV)

Landing often looks like this kind of obedience.

Not dramatic.
Not always comfortable.

But steady.

Sometimes the most faithful step is simply doing what we already know is right.

Scripture reminds us that God cares not only about our beginnings, but also about our follow-through.

“Commit your works to the Lord,
and your plans will be established.”

Proverbs 16:3 (ESV)

Landing requires trust.

Trust that the runway is right.
Trust that the descent is timed well.
Trust that the pilot guiding the process sees more clearly than we do.

For believers, that pilot is the Lord.

When our direction is aligned with Him, landing is not about perfection.

It is about obedience.

Because the goal is not simply movement.

The goal is to arrive where God intended.

In nature, this happens deep within the earth under extreme pressure and heat. In both cases, the outcome depends on maintaining precise conditions long enough for the carbon atoms to arrange themselves into a crystal lattice.

This process requires remarkable precision and control.

Temperatures must remain stable.
Pressure must remain consistent.
The environment must remain carefully monitored.

Even small deviations can interrupt the formation of the crystal.

In aviation, landing follows a similar principle.

Pilots rely on instruments and carefully managed conditions to guide the aircraft along the correct glide path. Speed, altitude, and alignment must all be maintained as the aircraft descends toward the runway.

Landing is not simply the end of the flight.

It is the result of sustained attention and disciplined control.

In both diamond creation and aviation, success depends on maintaining the right conditions until the process is complete.

In our lives, commitment often works the same way.

What God is forming in us does not usually happen all at once. It requires patience, steady focus, and the willingness to remain aligned with His direction even when the process takes time.

Just as a diamond forms when the conditions remain steady, our lives begin to reflect God’s work when we remain committed to the direction He has given us — trusting Him through every stage of the process.

Think about an area of your life where you have been circling.

Is there something you have started but not yet committed to finishing?

Is there a step of obedience you already know is right but have hesitated to take?

Have you taken time to ask the Lord whether it is time to land — or time to adjust the course?

What might faithfulness look like in the final approach?

I commit my plans to the Lord.
With His guidance, I land where He leads.

Science tells us that push is a directional force, and pressure represents the intensity of a push spread out across a surface. Push usually moves something away from its source.

I love science. It explains a lot.

I don’t know about you, but when I’m under pressure, I tend to focus on what I can do to get out of it. In doing that, I can miss something important — that I am being pushed while feeling movement away from my Source, the Lord.

But what happens when God meets natural science?

“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed;
we are perplexed, but not in despair;
persecuted, but not forsaken;
struck down, but not destroyed.”

2 Corinthians 4:8–9 (New King James Version)

“What they did to Jesus, they do to us—trial and torture, mockery and murder; what Jesus did among them, he does in us—he lives! Our lives are at constant risk for Jesus’ sake, which makes Jesus’ life all the more evident in us. While we’re going through the worst, you’re getting in on the best!”

The presence of pressure from the push does not mean you chose the wrong runway.

In fact, resistance often appears when we are moving toward something meaningful.

Deadlines.
Expectations.
Opposition.
Fatigue.
Doubt.

Push is part of life.

We are designed to live through it — and even grow in it.

Because on the other side of push
is pull.

Pull is the force that moves something toward its source.

There is tension in this movement, but it draws us closer to where we belong.

The Apostle Paul understood this well:

“Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 3:13–14 (KJV)

Pressing implies resistance.
Pressing implies effort.
Pressing means continuing forward even when progress requires strength.

We need God’s wisdom to know when we are being pushed — and when we are being pulled.

This knowing requires alignment.

Not every runway deserves a landing.

Sometimes pressure appears because we are being pulled toward purpose.

But sometimes pressure appears because we are pushing against God’s direction.

So how do we discern the difference?

When we are aligned with God’s direction, pressure may still be present — but there is also clarity.

Conviction.
Peace beneath the effort.

When we are out of alignment, pressure often produces confusion instead of conviction.

We feel scattered rather than strengthened.

Pilots rely on instruments when visibility is low.

Believers rely on God’s Word
and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Alignment helps us know when to press forward —
and when to adjust course.

Because once the runway is confirmed, hesitation is no longer helpful.

That is when we press
into the pull.

Without friction, the diamond remains dull.
The structure is there, but the light cannot return clearly.

The same principle often shows up in our lives.

Moments of resistance can feel uncomfortable, but they often refine what God is shaping in us.

Friction sharpens the facets.
It clarifies the surface.
It prepares the stone to reflect light.

Push and pull may feel like opposing forces, but in the hands of a master craftsman they work together to reveal brilliance.

What feels like resistance today may be part of the process that allows your life to reflect God’s light more clearly.

The Master Craftsman never wastes the refining.

To recognize solutions.

Recognizing ideas is creative.
Refining systems is creative.

You may be more creative than you think.

But here is something important:

Creativity does not flourish in chaos.

Research consistently shows that creativity thrives under certain conditions — clear goals, thoughtful limitations, time to reflect, and space to revise.

Too much pressure stifles it.
But no structure at all scatters it.

Creativity lives in the tension between freedom and form. Structure gives creativity somewhere to land.

A diamond’s brilliance is not random.

Its cut, symmetry, and polish determine how light returns.

The structure does not suppress the stone.
It reveals it.

The same is true for us.

Boundaries can become containers.
Deadlines can sharpen focus.
Limitations can clarify calling.

When we allow God to shape the structure around our gifts,
creativity becomes less about performance
and more about stewardship.

1 Peter 4:10 reminds us:

“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” (NLT)

Creativity is not self-expression alone.
It is service.

When we align our imagination with His design,
we create from peace instead of pressure —

But here’s something important:

A result is neutral.

It is simply the direct outcome of an action or a process.
Not good. Not bad. Just feedback.

Our culture, however, doesn’t treat results as neutral. We say we are “results-driven.”

That is different.

To be results-driven means we prioritize achieving a specific, measurable outcome — not just completing a task or putting in effort.

And that distinction matters.

Because I have seen — and lived — the devastation that happens when we confuse effort with outcome, or chase results without first submitting the process to God.

Proverbs 16:3 says:

“Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him],
And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance].” (Amplified Bible)

As believers, this is where results begin.

We commit what we do to the Lord.
We submit our plans to Him.
We respond to His guidance.

We cannot prioritize what we have not first planned.

Proverbs 21:5 reminds us:

“Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run;
hurry and scurry puts you further behind.” (The Message)

Sometimes in our professions, the outcome is given to us — a target, a number, a benchmark.

Other times, we establish goals based on our own desires.

Either way, our desired outcomes must be filtered through God’s Word — the way a filter removes impurities from water.

Because not every runway deserves a landing.
And not every desired result deserves pursuit.

Results must be measurable.

Did we meet the goal?
Are we better than when we started?

These questions require a standard.

Without one, we cannot gauge progress.
We cannot define success.

For believers, there is an added measure:

Alignment with God.

Because a result achieved outside of His will will never be sustained — or satisfying.

Diamonds are not brilliant by accident.

The same is true of us.

What we focus on shapes what we produce.
What we commit to shapes who we become.
And who we become shapes the influence we carry.

When our focus is aligned with God’s wisdom,
our decisions grow steadier.
Our words grow kinder.
Our courage grows clearer.

This week, we refine the focal point —
asking the Lord to help us see what truly matters
and to give us the strength to commit to it.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t seasons when we are called to spend time alone — drawing near to God and examining our own hearts. Those seasons matter.

But the weight of perseverance is too heavy to carry alone.

This week we’ve discussed self-care, change, transparency, and discipline as tools to move through perseverance. The root of the word perseverance comes from per (thoroughly) and severus (serious, strict).

It is serious work.

But God did not intend for us to persevere alone.

Even Jesus gathered disciples around Him. And we have one another.

In Galatians 6:2 (Living Bible), Paul writes, “Share each other’s troubles and problems, and so obey our Lord’s command.” When we stand with one another, we fulfill the command to love.

Even knowing this, there are times when we hesitate to share what we’re moving toward — our goals, our growth, our struggles.

Research suggests we are more likely to achieve our goals when we share them — but it matters who we share them with. Accountability works best when it comes from someone we respect and trust.

Hebrews 10:24–25 (The Voice) urges us, “Let us consider how to inspire each other to greater love and to righteous deeds… encouraging each other…”

Community requires intention.

It requires us to seek it — and to show up for it.

Isolation can quietly weaken resolve. Encouragement strengthens it.

Jesus left us the Holy Spirit — and He left us each other.

We are not alone.

When you think about discipline, how does it settle? Do you feel steady — or does it stir a little fear, maybe even dread?

For a long time, it felt heavy to me too. Discipline often feels like the thing we know we need, but aren’t quite ready to commit to.

But I am learning to see it differently.

Discipline is not punishment. It is training.

Hebrews 12:11 (Amplified) reminds us, “For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seems sad and painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness…”

It doesn’t promise comfort in the moment.
It promises peace in the long run.

Earlier this week we discussed change. Discipline is what sustains the changes we are led to make. It is the structure that keeps growth from fading when emotion fades.

Proverbs 12:1 (Living Bible) says, “To learn, you must want to be taught. To refuse reproof is stupid.”

The wording is strong, but the message is clear: correction is part of growth.

Discipline requires practice. It doesn’t fall from the sky. It is built through repeated, intentional action.

If we want to grow in an area, we need a plan — something simple, sustainable, and actionable. Not extreme. Not exhausting. Just steady.

That’s how habits form.
That’s how change lasts.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 9:27 (NLT), “I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should…”

Not for perfection.
But for integrity.

We don’t need to be flawless.
But there should be evidence of formation in our lives — especially in love.

Discipline is nothing to fear.

It creates guardrails.
It builds strength.
It helps us walk steadily in the peace we’ve already been given.

And in seasons of perseverance, discipline becomes the steady rhythm that keeps us moving forward.

Paul originally wrote this instruction in the context of roles and gifts within the body of Christ, yet it still carries weight in our discussion of transparency.

Sound judgment requires clear thinking — using relevant information and past experience to arrive at truth. Not merely our feelings.

There are times when we believe things about ourselves that feel good to hold onto — until growth requires us to see more clearly.

Sometimes we overestimate ourselves.

We may believe we are further along than we are.
More disciplined than we are.
More healed than we are.

Self-deception rarely announces itself. It often feels like confidence. It can look like strength. It can even sound spiritual.

Until clarity interrupts it.

And when clarity comes, it may not feel empowering. It may feel disappointing. Embarrassing. Even grief-inducing.

But transparency is not humiliation.

It is alignment.

God does not reveal truth to shame us.
He reveals it to steady us.

Aquamarine is prized for its clarity — light passes through it without distortion. In the same way, when we remove self-deception, truth can move through us clearly.

Thinking clearly does not diminish us.

It strengthens us.

Perseverance without transparency — within ourselves and with others — adds unnecessary weight. We end up dragging what should have been surrendered through seasons when we need our strength the most.

The psalmist prayed, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test my thoughts. Point out anything you find in me that makes you sad, and lead me along the path of everlasting life” (Psalm 139:23–24, Living Bible).

That is transparency.

Not self-condemnation.
Not shame.

An invitation.

Ask the Lord to reveal the truth.
Walk in it.
And just as aquamarine remains calm and steady, allow Him to steady you as you move forward.

Yesterday, we discussed self-care. It is a vital component of persisting in living out our calling from Jesus. Persisting requires movement.

As we move and open ourselves to observation, we also leave room for revelation.

What happens when that revelation shows us that something in us — or around us — needs to change for us to continue moving and serving as God directs?

As I wrote that sentence, my body had a physical reaction. I took a deep breath and felt tension rising. Change can feel disruptive — especially when it challenges patterns we have grown comfortable with.

Scripture reminds us, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2 NKJV). Transformation implies process. Renewal implies repetition.

Research confirms something similar: sustainable change rarely comes from intensity alone. It comes from systems — repeated behaviors practiced over time.

James Clear writes about the power of building systems — routines that do not require exhaustive effort — rather than relying on motivation to change a single habit. Systems reduce emotional decision-making and create consistency.

Spiritually, I have found this to be true.

When I sense God calling me to change in an area, I begin by asking Him for clarity. Obedience often begins not with dramatic shifts, but with small, sustainable actions aligned with His direction.

Change anchored in truth does not destabilize us.
It strengthens our capacity to persevere.

But for believers, self-care is not a trend.
It is stewardship.

1. Matthew 5:13–16 (The Message)

“Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth… You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world… Shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives…”

2. Mark 12:28–31 (Amplified Bible)

“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul (life), and with all your mind (thought, understanding), and with all your strength.’ This is the second: ‘You shall [unselfishly] love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

This is why we are here:

To love God fully.
To love others unselfishly.
To shine.
To serve.

But we cannot fulfill a divine calling while chronically depleted.

Even Jesus — God in human form — withdrew to rest.
He stepped away to pray (Mark 1:35).
He invited His disciples to come away and recover.

From the beginning, creation was built with rhythm (Genesis 2:1–3).

Work. Then rest.
Outpouring. Then renewal.
Purpose. Then pause.

Without rest, prayer, and proper care for body and soul, we cannot love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
We cannot love our neighbor as ourselves if we are neglecting ourselves entirely.

Self-care, for the believer, is not self-absorption.
It is preparation.

When Jesus sought time with the Father, He often rose early in the morning. Guarding the first part of the day — building intentional rhythms of prayer, reflection, and restoration — positions us to serve from overflow instead of exhaustion.

Godly self-care flows from stewardship — the intentional supervision of the strength God has entrusted to us.

We cannot steward what we refuse to observe.

Observation leads to action.

Quartz ranks at a 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness — durable, reliable, and one of the most abundant minerals on Earth.

But this week, we transition to Aquamarine.

Aquamarine belongs to the beryl family, which ranks 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale — slightly harder than quartz and formed under more specific geological conditions.

Not louder.
Not flashier.
But steadier under pressure.

There are seasons that call us to evaluate how and why we are moving.

Not to strive from a place of anxiety,
but to move from a place of steady faith.

Aquamarine, known for its calming blue-green sea color, has historically been carried by sailors who believed it ensured safe passage across uncertain waters. It has also been referred to as the stone of courage and associated with mental clarity.

Making it the perfect companion to perseverance.

If we remain anchored in truth and continue in obedience, the movement will produce what God intends — even if it does not look the way we imagined.

Not as pressure to perform.
Not as hustle.
But as anchored movement.
